Job Overview:

We are looking for a Web Designer to join our team on a contractual basis. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and maintaining the user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) of the company’s website, ensuring it is visually appealing, functional, and optimized for the shipping logistics and freight forwarding industry.

You will collaborate with internal teams to create a seamless, user-friendly online experience for clients, partners, and employees, while maintaining consistency with the company’s brand guidelines.

What will you enjoy doing (duties/tasks)

• Design and develop visually appealing and intuitive user interfaces for the website, ensuring an optimal user experience across all devices (desktop, mobile, tablet).
• Create responsive and adaptive designs that ensure the website is user-friendly on various screen sizes and devices, including smartphones and tablets.
• Create wireframes, mock-ups, and prototypes to visualize design concepts before implementation, ensuring alignment with business goals and user needs.
• Ensure all web designs are consistent with the company’s brand identity, including colours, typography, logos, and other branding elements.
• Design engaging layouts, graphics, and web elements that capture user attention and enhance the website’s visual appeal.

• Collaborate with marketing and content teams to design visually engaging layouts for new content, including blog posts, service pages, and other promotional materials.
• Regularly evaluate the website’s design and functionality, making updates and adjustments based on user feedback, industry trends, and company goals.
• Conduct usability testing to evaluate the website’s design and functionality, identifying areas for improvement based on user behaviour and analytics.

• Work closely with developers, content creators, marketing teams, and other departments to ensure seamless integration of design and content.
• Communicate design concepts and ideas effectively to stakeholders, ensuring that feedback is incorporated into the final design.
• If applicable, work with third-party vendors or agencies involved in website development or design, ensuring that designs are executed according to specifications.

• Ensure designs are SEO-friendly, optimizing page layouts, images, and other web elements to improve the site’s ranking on search engines.
• Collaborate with the development team to ensure that design elements do not negatively impact website loading speed or overall performance.

• Perform cross-browser and cross-device testing to ensure consistent design and functionality.
• Ensure designs are pixel-perfect and free from visual errors across all browsers and devices.

Requirements:

What you need to succeed (Qualifications, experience, skills, attributes)!
In the role for Contractual - Web Designer we are looking for Bachelor's degree in Web Design, Graphic Design, Computer Science, or a related field. 2 years of professional experience as a web designer, preferably with experience in the shipping, logistics, or freight forwarding industry. Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD), Sketch, Figma, or other design software. Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, and other front-end technologies. Experience with responsive web design and design frameworks. Basic knowledge of SEO principles and the ability to design SEO-friendly layouts. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) like WordPress, Joomla, or Drupal is a plus. Understanding of wireframing, prototyping, and UX/UI principles. Strong understanding of typography, color theory, and web design trends.
