Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Hardware Support Officer to join our team on a contractual basis. The role will focus on providing technical support for hardware systems used in the shipping logistics and freight forwarding industry. This position requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual to ensure the smooth functioning of hardware components, devices, and systems within our logistics operations.
As a Hardware Support Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing hardware devices such as barcode scanners, printers, mobile devices, computers, and other equipment essential to the shipping and logistics workflow.


What will you enjoy doing (duties/tasks)

  • Perform regular maintenance, testing, and calibration of all hardware devices, including barcode scanners, mobile devices, handheld terminals, and printers used in the logistics environment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware-related issues swiftly to minimize downtime and ensure the continuity of operations.
  • Provide on-site or remote support for hardware failures, repairs, and configurations.
  • Assist with hardware setup, installations, and upgrades, including peripherals, communication devices, and network hardware.
  • Manage the inventory of hardware equipment, including tracking, recording, and reporting on the status and condition of devices.
  • Assist in the procurement of hardware devices based on operational requirements and ensure timely delivery and deployment.
  • Ensure proper storage and disposal of outdated or non-functional hardware according to company policies and environmental standards.
  • Provide troubleshooting support for end-users and operations teams experiencing hardware-related challenges.
  • Respond promptly to service requests and incidents related to hardware equipment, documenting actions taken and resolutions.
  • Maintain clear and detailed logs of hardware issues, repairs, and service requests.
  • Assist with the integration of hardware devices with the company’s software systems (e.g., warehouse management systems, tracking systems, and enterprise resource planning software).
  • Support the configuration and testing of new hardware installations to ensure compatibility with existing systems.
  • Liaise with hardware vendors and service providers to ensure the timely repair, replacement, or upgrade of hardware devices.
  • Track warranty periods and service contracts to ensure compliance and cost-effectiveness in hardware maintenance.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of hardware configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and resolutions for future reference.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports on hardware performance, incidents, and support activities to management.
  • Ensure that all hardware support activities are aligned with industry best practices and internal operational procedures.
  • Provide basic training to staff members on the proper use and handling of hardware devices to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Offer ongoing technical support and guidance to end-users to enhance operational efficiency and reduce device-related errors.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines for handling and operating hardware in the warehouse or shipping environment.
  • Ensure all hardware and technical activities comply with relevant industry regulations and company policies.

Requirements:

What you need to succeed (Qualifications, experience, skills, attributes)!
In the role for Hardware Support Officer, we are looking for profile with intermediate or diploma (DAE) in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred. At least 2 years of experience in hardware support, maintenance, or IT technical support. Working with hardware devices relevant to logistics operations (e.g., barcode scanners, handheld terminals, and printers) is highly desirable. Knowledge or experience with networking equipment and systems used in logistics or freight forwarding is a plus. Strong understanding of hardware troubleshooting, installation, and repair processes. Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, Linux) and basic networking concepts. Experience with mobile and desktop device configurations, software updates, and driver installations. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure to resolve technical issues.

Strong communication skills to interact with end-users, vendors, and internal teams.

Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation.
Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
