Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Business Development Manager (BDM) to lead and drive growth initiatives in our Defence, Government, and Diplomatic Services sector. This key role is designed for an experienced professional who will leverage their knowledge of the Defence, government, and diplomatic industries to identify new business opportunities, build relationships with key stakeholders, and increase the company’s market share within these sectors.

As the BDM, you will be responsible for generating new leads, cultivating strategic partnerships, and developing long-term business relationships to enhance the company's visibility, brand presence, and revenue streams within these high-priority sectors. You will work closely with internal teams to ensure that our services in shipping, logistics, freight forwarding, and event management are tailored to meet the specific requirements of Defence, government, and diplomatic clients.

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the Defence, government, and diplomatic services sectors.
  • Build and maintain relationships with government agencies, Defence contractors, diplomatic missions, and international organizations.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop strategies that align with the company’s goals and objectives in these key sectors.
  • Prepare detailed business proposals, presentations, and contracts, ensuring they meet client needs and compliance requirements.
  • Conduct thorough market research to identify emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities in Defence, government, and diplomatic services.
  • Monitor industry regulations, policies, and developments that could impact business strategies or operations.
  • Stay up-to-date on key procurement and tendering processes relevant to the sector.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with high-level decision-makers in government, Defence, and diplomatic entities.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for clients and ensure excellent customer satisfaction through proactive communication and problem-solving.
  • Manage the negotiation and closing of high-value contracts.
  • Work closely with operational, logistics, event management, and compliance teams to ensure the delivery of tailored solutions for clients.
  • Ensure alignment of business development initiatives with internal capabilities and service offerings.
  • Assist in the development of marketing materials and strategic messaging to promote the company's services in the Defence, government, and diplomatic sectors.
  • Ensure all contracts and agreements are compliant with government and Defence procurement regulations.
  • Maintain an understanding of international trade laws, customs regulations, and shipping protocols for sensitive cargo.
  • Oversee the delivery of services in accordance with agreed terms and conditions, ensuring the highest standards of service and security.
  • Track and report on business development progress, identifying key performance indicators (KPIs) and adjusting strategies as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all business development activities, leads, and contacts.
  • Provide regular feedback to senior management on business performance and market conditions.

Requirements:

What you need to succeed (Qualifications, experience, skills, attributes)!
In the role for Business Development Manager (Defence, Government & Diplomatic Services), we are looking for profile with a Bachelor's/Master’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Relations. Along with professional certifications in Defence or government procurement is a plus. At least 5-7 years of experience in business development, sales, or account management, with at least 3 years focused on the Defence, government, or diplomatic sectors. Experience in shipping, logistics, freight forwarding, or event management is highly desirable.

In-depth understanding of the Defence, government, and diplomatic industries, including procurement processes, regulations, and security protocols. Familiarity with freight forwarding, logistics, and event management is essential. Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets. Strategic thinking with the ability to adapt to changing market conditions. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong organizational and time management skills. Proficient in CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, and project management tools.
